NFTs continue to innovate, evolve and change the way average consumers interact with the breakthrough blockchain technology. From high profile sales like digital artist Beeple to movie promotions like Deadpool 2, NFTs have laid claim to the advancement of intellectual provenance, the value of digital and physical collectibles and innovative digital marketing tactics.

Video NFT — vNFT

Legendary Comedian George Lopez, Kroger’s Food4Less and George Lopez’s new beer (George Lopez Brewing Company) and marinated meat products (Chingon Kitchen Marinated Meats) are paving the way for digital marketers to communicate to a connected generation of shoppers — through NFTs.

Lopez launched a series of NFTs including an exclusive video NFT (vNFT) with some of his most famous “catch phrases” as an exclusive promotion for Food4Less shoppers.

The model is different than current NFT projects which require users to have an extensive understanding of the technology. To acquire an NFT on most platforms around the world a user would have to open an Ethereum wallet to accept ERC-721 tokens, purchase crypto-currency through a site like Gemini or Coinbase, download a 3rd party browser extensions like Metamask used to interact with decentralized applications, and finally, take responsibility for their private keys with the very real chance they will lose them and the assets they acquired. The masses aren’t quite ready for the technology which is still difficult to understand and clunky at best.

There are too many barriers.

The George Lopez NFT promotion uses a simple “load to phone number” user experience through technology partner GFT.Exchange, which allows shoppers to access NFTs by simply entering a phone number and password. No apps, no personal information, no downloads and no need for any knowledge of the underlying blockchain technology.

The series of George Lopez NFTs are distributed as a “surprise and delight” promotion which allows the average shopper and fan the opportunity to own an NFT without having to navigate many of the issues that plague fast and broad based adoption of new technology.

The NFTs are held in the users wallet tied to their phone number and can be transferred to friends. The GFT Exchange has supported programs for partners that range from T-Mobile and Sony Pictures to Heineken to Pepsi to deliver NFTs to a wider audience.

George Lopez Brewing Company understood the need to extend the ability for the average shopper to participate in NFTs and allow the masses to enjoy the new technology in a fun and simple way while protecting rights of the intellectual property owner.

The first NFT to be distributed by a major grocery chain and the first NFT with a joke by a legendary comedian was directed by Frank Tejada and edited by Nate Goldberg.
